About Erth

Erth is a beautiful medieval manor set within 300 acres of regenerative farmland and woodland. Encircled by the tidal river Lynher and surrounded by clean air and abundant nature, it’s the perfect place to unwind for a long weekend. With a converted barn for dining, a cosy sitting room with a wood burner, fire pits, a sauna and a 12th century chapel for our yoga practice, Erth offers a beautiful, grounding energy in the slow part of the year.

timings

We’ll be ready to welcome you to Erth from 4pm on Thursday with tea and cake. Check-out is 11am on Sunday after yoga and a farewell breakfast.

Yoga

We’ll start our day with light refreshments before an accessible, energising morning yoga practice before a hearty brunch. After lunch, in the late afternoon we’ll come back together for another practice more focused on stillness and rest. At Erth we’ll be practising in a beautiful 12th century chapel with infra-red heating - the perfect mix of ancient and modern!

Food

We’ll enjoy three meals a day of beautiful vegetarian food, prepared for us by Sian, a Leith’s trained chef from Stan’s Pantry. Please inform us of any allergies/intolerances upon booking.

There are six bedrooms in the main house all with river views. Three of these are en-suites, one has its own private bathroom, and two on the ground floor share a shower room.

Surroundings

Set on a peninsula encircled by the River Lynher, Erth has views of Dartmoor to one side and the village of St Germans on the other. This is unspoilt land, with no public footpaths where you can walk freely.

The land surrounding is farmed sympathetically using regenerative farming techniques, so birds, insects and animals are in abundance, the trees are covered with lichen and the air is “the cleanest on Erth”.

With a secret river beach, and Whitsand Bay, Freathy Beach (pictured below), Dartmoor and Bodmin all within close driving range, Erth is a perfect escape to hunker down, take a cold dip and a long exhale to contemplate the year ahead.

Extras

There’s a 6 person barrel sauna for guests’ use. Treatments will be available at extra cost, and can be booked directly nearer the retreat.

Our approach

Chloe George and Clare Proudfoot are experienced retreat hosts, who offer experiences that are transformative, playful and deeply restorative. Our retreats are nurturing, allowing your needs to be met while giving you space and freedom to reflect on where you’re at and what changes you might want to make in your life. Our spacious schedules offer plenty of opportunities to connect with others, alongside time to rest, swim, read or simply be.

We both teach intuitively, drawing on an understanding of the nervous system and meeting every body with compassion. Our approach is rooted in embodied practice, encouraging deep listening and authentic expression through movement.

We're delighted that so many guests return year after year, having discovered the value of taking time for themselves.
