2025 yoga and nature retreats

One day, two night and four night retreats full of nourishing movement, deep rest, wild swimming and delicious food.

YOUR HOSTS

I run my residential retreats with brilliant fellow teacher and space-holder Clare Proudfoot.

Chloe George

Chloe is a yoga teacher, doula, writer and group facilitator. She teaches creative, accessible and soothing movement that makes you feel good in your body, as well as restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Her passion is to support people to get back into their bodies and offer respite from a stressful, distracting world. She is passionate about holding space for women to come together and reset, reconnect and restore in community.

Clare Proudfoot

Clare is a yoga teacher, circle facilitator and embodiment practitioner. She holds nourishing and regulatory spaces for people to gather all the parts of themselves up, and connect to a sense of wholeness through embodied movement, breath-work, restorative yoga and authentic sharing. Clare’s teaching and facilitation is nervous system informed and often infused with tips and techniques for how to bring regulation into daily life in doable and sustainable ways.

quinta galegas, portugal, 29 june-3 july 2026

Join us for four days of Portugeuse perfection: sunshine, swimming, yoga and beautiful food, in a lovingly restored 18th century farmhouse an hour from Porto.

Get ready for:

  • an idyllic rural location nestled in a river valley, surrounded by mountains

  • twice daily yoga practices to uplift/energise and restore/unwind

  • a lovingly restored 18th century country house with big beds, giant bathrooms, and sumptuous communal spaces to hang out in

  • bright, spacious and stylish commodation

  • delicious seasonal food cooked with so much love by our hosts Catherine and Simon, including organic produce from the vegetable garden

  • natural lake style swimming pool with water from the mountain spring, lake side lounge area and wood-fired hot tub

  • 5 acres of abundant natural beauty with orange groves, olive trees and expansive organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens

  • workshops, walks and massages as optional extras

  • an honesty bar to enjoy a glass of Portuguese vinho verde before dinner

  • lots of free time to sit, lay, read, swim, wander, time for solitude and for great conversations with others

our retreat home

Welcome to Quinta de Galegas, where you’re free to jump into a pool filled with mountain spring water, wander through the orange grove or stroll over to the courtyard in time for our evening meal. Simon and Catherine, a couple from the UK whose kids are now grown up, have made it their mission to create a real sanctuary in the Portuguese hills as their home and retreat space for us lucky guests.

Set in 5 acres of land, the grounds feature orange groves, olive trees and expansive organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens. Everything has been thought of here, and whether you’re taking in the scents from the herb garden or sipping a drink on the terrace, it’s almost impossible not to feel the stresses of life receding as the moments pass.

Pick a place to relax in the sun: poolside loungers, a seated terrace area or the swing seat. Hop in the hot tub or lie in the hammock as the afternoon winds on. If you want a quiet indoor space to unwind and read a book, there’s a beautiful lounge, library and bar space to enjoy. If you’d like to wander up the village for a coffee, the village of Ribeiradio is a 10 minute stroll.

Yoga

Our twice daily yoga practice is held in the cool wooden-floored lower ground floor studio at the Quinta, with a green view of the surroundings as we practice.

We offer accessible movement, breath practice and deep rest to bring you back home to your body. With an emphasis on listening to your own intuitive preference and following your curiosity, you’ll experience real nourishment and appreciation for your body as we move and find stillness together. There’s no pressure to push yourself but there will be joyful connection with your body’s capacity, with options to feel strength and balance or allow yourself to rest.

There’ll be a more energising and dynamic morning practice and a more restorative and late afternoon session, before we meet on the terrace for a drink before dinner.

Food, glorious food

Eating is a big highlight of Quinta de Galegas life! Three meals a day will be lovingly prepared by Catherine and Simon, with tea, coffee and herbal water available all day. Snacks are available but you almost certainly won’t need them! Expect delicious and plentiful vegetarian food partly grown on site and fresh orange juice squeezed from trees from the orchard.

Breakfast will be a buffet of local bread, jam, eggs and cheeses, fruit, porridge and chia puddings. Lunch tends to be a salad or soup, vegetarian sushi or fritters, with a delicious pudding to follow. For dinner we’ll enjoy a curry, stew or wood-fired pizza.

Alcoholic drinks are also available to buy from the honesty bar, prices vary.

retreat facilitators

I’ve been running retreats with Clare Proudfoot for 3 years, and we’ve honed our approach to create retreats that are transformative as well as fun, playful as well as deeply restful and above all, nurturing. Our aim is that you feel completely looked after, with the autonomy to focus on what you need most from your retreat. Our schedules are always spacious, offering plenty of opportunities to come together with others for uplifting social time as well as time alone to nap, swim, read or walk.

We both teach intuitively and unhurriedly, working with an understanding of the nervous system and lots of compassion for wherever your body is at today. We focus on an embodied practice, encouraging deep listening to and expression through your body.

Retreats work their magic via the power of movement as well as stillness and rest, connection to each other as well as nature, wonderful food and comfortable, beautiful places to linger in. We’ve worked hard to create the very best experience for our guests, and we’re delighted to have many repeat clients who know the power of taking a bit of time for yourself.

travel

There are cheap flights from London Gatwick or London Stansted to Porto. After you’ve booked, we’ll be in touch with more information on flight options so that we can group guests together as far as possible for the taxi transfer from the airport. Taxi transfer from Porto to Quinta de Galegas and back will be arranged for you and take around 1 hour. Taxi transfers are priced separately (final price depending on numbers sharing but estimate is between 20-30 euros).

We expect guests to arrive at Quinta de Galegas from mid-afternoon on the Monday. Departure from the retreat centre will be before lunchtime on Friday.
