Role of doula

I understand that a doula’s role is supportive and my doula will be guided by my needs, wishes and decisions. A doula will not make decisions on my behalf or give medical advice.

Agreement

My doula will make every reasonable effort to provide the service required. She will endeavour to provide a back-up doula whenever possible if required (for example in the case of illness), or make alternative arrangements with you. If a back-up doula, or alternative arrangements, is not provided, the fee for the time my doula is unavailable will not be charged or will be refunded if already paid.

The decision to employ a doula is mine and the doula cannot accept any responsibility for problems in the postnatal period.

Payment

To contract my doula’s services for:

Agreed period (e.g. 3 months after birth) - I agree to pay a deposit equal to 50% of planned support. This deposit is non-refundable, should I decide to terminate the contract before I commence work. Additional hours can be negotiated. My doula invoice me at the end of each fortnight of any additional services provided and I agree to pay promptly.

Ad hoc sessions/one-off support - I agree to pay in advance for the session, either at my doula’s website or separately arranged via bank transfer.

Cancellation/moving sessions

Sessions can be moved or cancelled with at least 24 hours notice. Any sessions cancelled within the 24 period will be charged at the full rate.
